Origins of Rebus

Rebus NZ Inc was set up in December 2015 as a New Zealand-based support centre for clubs that were previously part of Probus South Pacific Ltd (PSPL). It gave clubs the option to become independent and operate without oversight from Australia.

While trademark rules meant we couldn’t keep using the "Probus" name, the new name Rebus (short for REtired BUSiness) has been a great fit — it’s unique, easy to remember, and proudly Kiwi.

Even though the name changed, Rebus Clubs across NZ still follow a Constitution that’s very similar to the one they had before. Probus originally came to New Zealand thanks to Rotary International as a way to serve local communities.

Today, the Rebus NZ Board is made up of Presidents, Past Presidents, and Life Members — all experienced, passionate people who know what it takes to run great clubs. We’re here to provide friendly, non-political support for clubs and their members right across the country.
