Rebus Clubs in New Zealand have their origins in the Rotary and Probus organizations. Membership is open to retirees, both men and women, who wish to keep minds active, expand interests and enjoy the conviviality of new friends and acquaintances.

The Papanui Rebus Club Christchurch, formerly Papanui Combined Probus Club, was founded in 1985.  We are a friendly club and are keen to welcome new members, offering a chance to meet new people in the Community. We are open to all men and women who are over 60, retired or contemplating retirement.

We meet once a month, at 10.00am, on the 1st Tuesday of the month, except for January, for around two hours at the Morrison Avenue Bowling Club, 30 Morrison Avenue, Papanui, Christchurch 8052. The meeting consists of brief Committee reports, a short talk from a member, morning tea, and a guest speaker, from a wide range of organisations, so that we can provide something of interest for all members.

Other Club Activities:
We meet once a month for a Coffee and Chat morning at a local café on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.

The third Tuesday of the month is our outings day.  This is generally a lunch at a variety of restaurants, where we can get together and try different foods and enjoy the company.

Our annual sub is $40.00 – morning tea is included at our monthly meeting; however, the other activities are at your own cost.

We encourage you to attend a meeting prior to joining to ensure that we meet your expectations – please contact either the President or the Membership team if you wish to attend a meeting.

Membership Obligations:
We encourage members to attend as many of the monthly meetings as possible to get as much benefit from regular participation as they can.

As part of our monthly meeting, we have a 10-minute slot where a member is encouraged to share part of their life story or some particular event of interest. (Note, this is entirely voluntary, as we understand this can be frightening for some people).

We also like to encourage our members to join the Committee and help make the decisions with regard to the running of the Club.

Members can also assist with the morning teas as we like to have a roster of helpers.
